JESUS CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY
More Details
34th Sunday of the Year C: Jesus Christ is the True King At the end of the liturgical year, we contemplate once again Christ Jesus the King, who gave his life, suffered, was crucified and died on the cross for us. He is the King of heaven and earth, all power and dominion are his. And if we follow him faithfully, when the end of our life on earth comes, he will welcome us into his kingdom in heaven. By Father Paschal Ighondo –Vatican. Reflection on the Word of God, 34th Sunday of the liturgical year C in the Church, Ordinary Time. It is the last Sunday of the liturgical year C. The next Sunday is the first of Advent, Year A. On this last Sunday, liturgically we celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ the King. Despite being on Palm Sunday we made a procession, remembering how Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem with joy as King, a great crowd of people met him, holding branches in their hands and cheering him on. At the end of the liturgical year, we contemplate once again Christ Jesus the King, who gave his life, suffered, was crucified and died on the cross for us. He is the King of heaven and earth, all power and dominion are his. And if we follow him faithfully, when the end of our life on earth comes, he will welcome us into his kingdom in heaven. It is in this context that the opening hymn says: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor. Glory and majesty be to him forever and ever” (Rev. 5:12, 1:6). It is in this hope that the mother Church prays in the opening prayer: “O God Almighty and everlasting, you have willed to make all things new in your beloved Son, King of the universe. Grant us, in your goodness, all creatures redeemed from slavery, to serve you and praise you forever”
